Wen Xie is Chair and Joseph Koslow Endowed Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Xie’s primary research interest is xenobiotic receptors and enzymes in xenobiotic and endobiotic metabolism. Dr. Xie’s research is conducted using a combination of cell cultures and genetically engineered mice that include transgenic, knockout and humanized mice.

Dr. Xie has authored more than 240 journal articles and book chapters. Dr. Xie is a regular reviewer for NIH and over 150 scientific journals. Among his achievements, Dr. Xie is the recipient of the University of Pittsburgh Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Award and several wards from International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) and American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET).  Most recently, Dr. Xie received the 8-year NIEHS Revolutionizing Innovative, Visionary Environmental health Research (RIVER) R35 Award. Dr. Xie was elected as an AAAS Fellow in 2022.

Dr. Xie obtained his medical degree from Peking University Health Science Center, and PhD from University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California before joining the University of Pittsburgh.
