Liver-Related Work
The objective of our research is to understand and engineer organ-specific vasculature. One of our focuses is the discontinuous, fenestrated liver sinusoidal endothelium, which is dramatically different from the endothelium of other organs, such as the lung and intestine. We are taking several approaches with the goal of inducing liver sinusoidal endothelium from pluripotent stem cell, including hepatocyte-endothelial co-differentiation and the use and functionalization of liver-specific extracellular matrix.
