Liver-Related Work
My research has largely focused on the mechanisms by which bioactive lipids, particularly those derived from the oxidative inflammatory reactions of nitric oxide called nitro-fatty acids, prevent the pathogenesis of obesity-related metabolic diseases. Currently, we are exploring the mechanistic role of hyperuricemia in fructose-driven NAFLD and the progression to NASH by targeting enzymes responsible for uric acid production pharmacologically as well as using novel gain- and loss-of-function approaches with genetic mice.
