Liver-Related Work
My laboratory studies the regulation of mitochondrial metabolism and bioenergetics by lysine acetylation, a nutrient-derived post-translational modification. We are primarily interested in how the mitochondrial lysine acetyltransferase protein, GCN5L1, regulates the activity of fatty acid oxidation and glucose/pyurvate oxidation enzymes in the mitochondria. Our work is currently funded by an R01 award from the NIH, and an Innovative Basic Science award from the American Diabetes Association.
