Dr. Paul Monga receives a new NIH grant with MPI Dr. Xin Chen (from UCSF) for “Investigating multifactorial beta-catenin activation in hepatocellular cancer.” This 5-year grant proposal seeks to understand how mutations in beta-catenin gene versus axin gene lead to disparate β-catenin activation to contribute to liver cancer development. The results will elucidate the distinct signaling pathways induced by β-catenin activation due to distinct mechanisms, and will pave a way for precision medicine for HCC treatment.
