Dr. Zhu‘s lab described an evolutionarily conserved 12-hour biological clock that is shared between mammals and simple marine animals and follows a 12-hour cycle of ocean tides in their grant, titled, “Decoding the regulation and functions of the mammalian 12h-clock.” With this award, Dr. Zhu will continue to study the regulation and function of the mammalian 12h-clock, with a focus on its role in regulating metabolic homeostasis (including in the liver) and aging.
